The recent Rick Stein on Spain television series has generated a huge amount of interest in Spain. We at Books4Spain aim to help you discover books about Spain – ranging from those about food and wine, its history and culture to books about travelling in Spain throughout the ages, the Camino de Santiago and Flamenco, among many others.
In his first programme Stein mentions the tremendous changes Spain has been through since his childhood visits – Books4Spain will have several books by accomplished authors such as Giles Tremlett and John Hooper which will help you understand the tremendous transition Spain has been through since Franco’s death and joining the European Union (or EEC as it was then) putting it in its political, cultural and historical context.
Stein’s journey through Spain also echoes the well-trodden path of many real and fictional characters, from Don Quijote to Laurie Lee. Books4Spain will have a comprehensive selection of books covering “Travels in Spain” from the 17th Century to the 21st Century. They provide a fascinating insight into Spain’s social, cultural and political development over the centuries and what shapes the Spanish character.
He also mentions Duende more than once – this term is associated with Flamenco and we believe that we will have one of the best selections of English language books related to Flamenco on the web, most of which have been carefully selected by an expert in the field of Spanish music and dance.
We are excited about helping you learn more about this amazing country and look forward to welcoming you to our Books4Spain online store very soon.
