The London Guitar Festival was launched at Kings Place on Wednesday 26 October 2011 with a solo recital by flamenco guitarist Juan Martín. The concert, which was sponsored by the Spanish Embassy’s Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs in collaboration with IGF, was a great success.
Juan Martín gave a warm and intimate recital enhanced by his anecdotes of performing at Picasso’s 90th birthday party and the fact that his Música Alhambra recording is now sold at the Alhambra in Granada.
In attendance were Sr. Fidel López Álvarez and Beatriz Mérida Balcazar of the Spanish Embassy in London, as well as the Artistic Director of IGF, Tom Kerstens and a very full hall of enthusiastic aficionados.
